United States: Although she definitely drowned her son, Christine Wilhelm has pleaded not guilty on grounds of insanity. The court in Troy, New Tork heard that she had heard werewolves on the night of the killing, and that she believed her husband and satanic cult members were going to torture the children and make them ritual human sacrifices.
She had earlier called in Rensselaer County Child Protective Services in September 2001 alleging that her husband had sexually abused the children, but no evidence of this was found. Mother on trial in son's drowning - Newsday, 7th July 2003.
