Call Me Crazy, But...

by Red Wolf

United States: An American Airlines pilot has done his darnedest to prove that the French have the right idea about classing fundies as insane and barring them from positions where their madness could put peoples lives at risk.

The pilot, whose name was not released, asked Christians on Friday's flight to raise their hands.
He then suggested non-Christians talk to the Christians about their faith.
He went on to say that everyone who doesn't have their hand raised is crazy... He continued to say, Well, you have a choice: you can make this trip worthwhile, or you can sit back, read a book and watch the movie... The pilot also told passengers he would be available for discussion at the end of the flight.

His bosses have issued a rather tactful reproach of their pilot's actions.

American Airlines spokesman Tim Wagner said the incident was being investigated.
It falls along the lines of a personal level of sharing that may not be appropriate for one of our employees to do while on the job, he added.

It can't be that reassuring to have the pilot checking if everyone on the flight is saved before taking off. He doesn't sound too confident of his flying skills. Let alone his being a nutter, of course.

Needless to say, this story broke while I was somewhere over the North Atlantic on my way to the United States. Thank you to the several people who mailed me to let me know. I feel really reassured about tomorrow's internal flight, and it's not because of all these terrorists that the country is apparently full of.

Evangelism, witnessing and similar activitites go by one name here—advertising, and is no different from spam for viagra, penis enlargement products and pornography. We do not take advertising. If you want to advertise your imaginary friend, please spend your own money on your own web space to do so. Any attempts to use the comments section for advertisements will be deleted, and the perpetrator barred, unless they are particularly stupid, in which case I reserve the right to pinch an idea from Teresa Nielsen Hayden and delete all the vowels.

Allowed HTML: a href, b, br, p, strong, em, ol, ul, li, blockquote, q, pre. If your name has accents in it, I'm afraid you'll have to leave them out for now, as things are a little b0rked. The same applies if you are using a word processor to compose your comment, then copying and pasting the text—either turn off curly quotes and avoid using em-dashes, or edit your comment after pasting to get rid of them. Garbled comments usually get deleted.
