It will come as no surprise to discover that Thanksgiving, despite its blatantly Christian veneer, is one of the Evil Satanic Holidays. Well, it is according to Satan's Days of Worship (Edition 1.0 20030312-20030312), published by the Christian Churches of God in Woden (honest!), Australia.

The cornucopia, which is typically seen at Thanksgiving in the United States, was originally the horn of the Great Mother in her cow or goat form. Her names were Io, Ceres, Hera, and Hathor. All good things poured forth from the hollow horn, which was symbolic of prayer to the goddess. Cornucopias are still frequently seen as decorations although many do not know its pagan meaning as a sacred festival (ibib., p. 90). The original day of Thanksgiving was moved to this date for pagan reasons by the early USA secret cults.

Obviously, the idea for this first Thanksgiving did not just pop into the mind of Governor Bradford as most people believe! On the contrary Thanksgiving, in the guise of the pagan harvest festivals, can be traced right back to ancient Babylon and the worship of Semiramis!

United States: The good citizens of Dover, Pennsylvania know stupidity when they see it. After all, these are the people who booted out their moronic school board when the idiots went all swoony over creationism. But while the rest of the world is applauding the town's good sense, I suspect that no one is surprised to hear that Pat Robertson is calling down a hail of toads and spanners. Or whatever it is that loony fundie psychopaths threaten the intelligent with when they throw a hissy fit.

I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city, Robertson said on his daily television show broadcast from Virginia, The 700 Club.

And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there, he said.

And people wonder why church attendances are falling.

Australia: Christmas has some less appealling aspects. The garish assault on your eyes and wallets by stores; the forced interaction with family members you avoid for the rest of the year; and the insanity of stupid corporations with a rabid legal department and lack of clue who over-indulge in an fit of political correctness.

I recently got a rant from a friend who'd been charged with designing the company Christmas card and was seriously pissed off at a request from the new company owner. The e-mail is quoted with permission, provided neither my friend nor the company are mentioned.

I've just been informed by our new US based overlords, that our company christmas card is not allowed to use the word Christmas as it's not considered politcally correct. Holly and santa references are ok, but no Christ references please were american.

This looks like a job for the Flying Spaghetti Monster!
