Taiwan: Vice president Annette Lu told an AIDS awareness conference that AIDS is God's way of punishing homosexuals and that it was His way of distinguishing between men and animals. Some members of her own party are urging her not to resign. The main route of HIV infection, even excluding Africa, is now via heterosexual sex. Attitudes such as this are part of the reason why.
