419 scammers seem to have realised that adults with imaginary friends are more likely to be gullible than the rest of us, as this spam purporting to be from a David Arnold (and written in the finest Christian English) demonstrates:

In Lordship. I am the above named person from Nigeria but now undergoing medical treatment. I was married to Dr.Archums Nkoyewho worked with Malaysia embassy in ABIDJAN for nine years, before he died in the year 2003.
We were both married for eleven years without children. He died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days.
Before his death we were both very close as husband and wife and since his death I decided not to re-marry. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of USD15,000,000.00 (FIFTEEN Million United States Dollars) with a SECURITY COMPANY, I will send you details as soon as you indicate your interest. Recently my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next Six months due to my cancer illness. Having known my condition and believing the doctor I have decided to donate this fund to avoid total loss to Less privilege, or better still an individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to in struct here in. I want interested firm,or individual that will re ceive and use this money to help, orphanages ,widows and propagating the word of God and to ensure that the house of God is maintained. Please do not fail to spread the funds across the globe especially AFRICA as soon as you receive the money.
it is more blessed to give than to receive. I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are fighting over the properties and I don't want my husband's hard earned money to be giving to greedy attitude. I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an UNGODLY manner, hence the reason for taking this bold decision. I am not afraid of death since I am a good person.
I shall hold my peace. I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health, and because of the presence of my husband's relatives around me always. I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible.
As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact information of the security company and other details that will enable you claim the funds.please i want you to be aware that according to my attorney there are some important document that will be required by the security comany for the transfer this is where i will need your little assistance before the fund can be transfer/delivered with the help of my attorney. I will also issue you a letter of authority/Power of Attorney that will make you the beneficiary of this fund. I want you to always pray for me because the lord is my shepherd.
My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that wants to serve the GOD must serve him in spirit and truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life.
I sent you this mail under severe pains. Any delay in your reply will be detrimental. Please assure me that you will act accordingly. Hoping to hear from you immediately. Remain blessed in the name of the Lord.
Yours in Christ,
MRS. Henrita Arcums Nkoye

I'm always amused by the selective capitalisation in these scams. Giving it a look over it looks like the uppercase bits are the bits that are form generated. What is your name? Pick a currency? Select your nominated amount to scam from the gullible? Insert imaginery tin-pot dictator or fake religious affiliation of your choice?

It's not about this story, but about the loony fundamentalists that prevented "Maggie's Centres" (a cancer care charity) from benfiting frm a donation from the cast of Jerrry Springer - The Musical"
I had a look at the "Christan Voice" website and it is EVIL - eg describes Hinduism as "demonic".
I w-mailed the charity abd told them I wouldn't be donaing anything to them and suggest everyone else does the same!http://www.christianvoice.org.uk/

I got one today from the widow Mrs Maria Enem who seems to need three email addresses to run the one scam — two in India and a third in Portugal.
Oddly this was the first I've noticed with no country of original or actual sum of money mentioned, just the vague large sum deposited in Europe, but all the Christian references are similar.
There was also the added twist to suck in the fundies mentioning that her non-Christian in-laws are mistreating her. Quite the nice touch.
Evangelism, witnessing and similar activitites go by one name here—, and is no different from spam for viagra, penis enlargement products and pornography. We do not take advertising. If you want to advertise your imaginary friend, please spend your own money on your own web space to do so. Any attempts to use the comments section for advertisements will be deleted, and the perpetrator barred, unless they are particularly stupid, in which case I reserve the right to pinch an idea from Teresa Nielsen Hayden and delete all the vowels.
This is not a contacts site. If you are looking for help regarding a particular path, I suggest The Witches' Voice, which does operate a contacts service.
Allowed HTML:
a href, b, br, p, strong, em, ol, ul, li, blockquote, q, pre. If your name has accents in it, things will work better if you use the XHTML entities for those letters. The same applies if you are using a word processor to compose your comment, then copying and pasting the text—either turn off curly quotes and avoid using em-dashes, or edit your comment after pasting to get rid of them. Garbled comments usually get deleted.
