United States: A woman who killed her three children by drowning because God had commanded her to sacrifice the boys
has been found to be legally insane and has been sent to a mental hospital rather than prison. And, as it traditional, social workers were slacking:
Harris was in and out of mental hospitals six times between February 2004 and August 2005. On the day the children died, her mother warned a social worker that she would hurt the boys, but the social worker did not believe the warning because Harris was such a good mother, according to the defense.
Presumably they were too busy looking for imaginary satanists.

Can anyone actually think of any occasion at which any social "worker" has ever done anything useful?

I understand there are quite a lot, the problem being that you only hear about them when things go horribly wrong. Besides, all the things that work would likely be covered by client confidentiality type stuff.

Any attempts to use the comments section for advertisements will be deleted, and the perpetrator barred, unless they are particularly stupid, in which case I reserve the right to pinch an idea from Teresa Nielsen Hayden and delete all the vowels.
