England: There are some stories I wish were April Fools' Day jokes, but this one is dated 2nd April, so it can't be:
Schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Government backed study has revealed.
It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.
There is also resistance to tackling the 11th century Crusades - where Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem - because lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques.
I am lost for words.
Teachers drop the Holocaust to avoid offending Muslims—London Evening Standard, 2nd April 2007.

It is to be hoped that the publicity from this, and similar airings, will cause a reversal of this shameless cowardice.

Given the demonisation that ordinary Muslims face at the moment, you'd think this particular bit of history would be essential, especially the run-up to it.

I was horrified by this until I saw that it was from the Evening Standard. Not the most reliable of sources, to say the least.

As long as "ordinary muslims" allow themselves to be conned by their ranting priests, then they are, I'm afraid, asking for all the demonisation they get.
A bit like the catholics in England, 1583-1610, in fact.

AlyxL (3) - it was in many of the other papers too. I just spotted it first in the Evening Standard.
G. Tingey (4) - The ordinary Muslims to which I refer are the silent majority who don't listen to the mad mullahs, just like the majority of Christians are not followers of Fred Phelps. They get treated with suspicion, because the Muslim loons are currently better at grabbing the headlines (by killing people and pretending it has something to do with the religion, rather than them being murderous bampots) that the Christian ones (who mostly stand around with ungrammatical signs).
Evangelism, witnessing and similar activitites go by one name here—, and is no different from spam for viagra, penis enlargement products and pornography. We do not take advertising. If you want to advertise your imaginary friend, please spend your own money on your own web space to do so. Any attempts to use the comments section for advertisements will be deleted, and the perpetrator barred, unless they are particularly stupid, in which case I reserve the right to pinch an idea from Teresa Nielsen Hayden and delete all the vowels.
This is not a contacts site. If you are looking for help regarding a particular path, I suggest The Witches' Voice, which does operate a contacts service.
Allowed HTML:
a href, b, br, p, strong, em, ol, ul, li, blockquote, q, pre. If your name has accents in it, things will work better if you use the XHTML entities for those letters. The same applies if you are using a word processor to compose your comment, then copying and pasting the text—either turn off curly quotes and avoid using em-dashes, or edit your comment after pasting to get rid of them. Garbled comments usually get deleted.
