Bargain of the Day: Jesus Brolly

jesus-brolly.pngToday's fabulous offer is not, as it might seem at first, an umbrella which was seen by Jesus himself. The seller of Umbrella Jesus Image Seen Worldwide Featured In Book simply needs to win an auction for some punctuation.

Up for auction I have a truly AMAZING item. This is an umbrella with the image of Jesus Christ on the cross. I have had this umbrella for many years and some how pictures of it that I had on my computer leaked onto Youtube. I do not know how but the author of the new book Look It's Jesus Amazing Holy Visions in Everyday Life saw them and contacted me. He wanted more pictures and permission to use them in this new book he was working on. I gave him my permission and in exchange he sent me an autographed copy of the book when it was released which you can see from the picture. (THE BOOK IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION).

The editor of Entertainment Weekly loved Look! It's Jesus! so much that she put it in the Jan. 22, 2010 issue.

I will not tell the story of when and how I found the umbrella because it is all featured in the book. Which is a very interesting book by the way. But it is an interesting story.

Again this is the actual umbrella that is featured in this book as "Umbrella Jesus". This is not a man-made item or a scam. I even have the original picture I sent to the publisher on a disc somewhere and if I find it I will send it along with the item but once you see the umbrella you will see that it is the real deal.

It is hard to see from the pictures but looking at the umbrella, which is worn all the way around, the one side you can clearly see Jesus with his arms spread and his legs crossed and you can see his head bowing down with hair and a beard.

I would not recommend trying to use this umbrella because it is older and has some wear but it is a truly amazing item.

This item has truly been a blessing to me and I hope it will be a blessing to you.

I have to admit, I cannot clearly see Jesus. I can clearly see a pair of nicely rounded buttocks framing a rather well-used arsehole, though.

Deya latest

England and Kenya: Two of "Archbishop" Gilbert Deya's family have recently been convicted of crimes against children in two different continents.

His nephew, Paul Deya, was convicted 10 days ago of murdering his son and of wounding his wife. Deya had tried to blame a dream he'd had six months before he slit the throat and abdomen of the 3-year-old child. Even the QC acting for the defence had nothing good to say about his uncle's church, for which both Paul Deya and his wife worked:

Baroness Kennedy QC, defending, said the church to which the couple belonged was strange and cult-like.

This was a tight-knit religious community run by a charlatan, she said.

Meanwhile, over in Kenya, Gilbert Deya's wife Mary has been sentenced to three years' imprisonment after being found guilty of stealing another baby. This is her second conviction for child trafficking. Deya himself is still in the UK fighting extradition to Kenya.

My, that's an appropriate set of initials!

India: The new Chief Minister of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa, has found an interesting scapegoat for his troubles.

"The Opposition is conspiring to take my life using witchcraft. As I leave home for Vidhana Soudha everyday and return home, I am filled with the fear of losing my life. They are harassing me mentally.

"Nevertheless, I will do my best by ignoring these threats and will rule the state till the end of my tenure as I have the blessings of both God and my people," is what Yeddyurappa actually said at the Suttur helipad on Monday.

His family priest has given some interesting advice to Yeddyurappa, which seems to involve performing some magic of his own :

Bhanuprakash Sharma, the CM's family priest, said he has advised Yeddyurappa to perform certain rituals to ward off evil. I have advised him to perform the sahasra chandika yajna at Chamundeswary Temple in Mysore and laksha modaka Ganapathi homa (offering 1 lakh modaks to Ganesha), he said....

Among the rituals suggested by priests is the CM sleeping naked on the floor for two nights before the amaavasya, which falls on February 2.

(CM is "Chief Minister"; 1 lakh is 100,000)

The opposition is treating the allegation with the respect it deserves, i.e. none. Congress Party representative Manish Tewari told press agency PTI

This is a living example of a medieval and reactionary mindset. The fundamental question is that whether this betrays only his mindset or also that of the party to which be belongs and which has made him the Chief Minister.

Yeddyurappa is currently being investigated over allegations of corruption.

Administrivia: A new contributor

After sharing a few pints of fine ale over the weekend, I invited regular commenter Greg. Tingey to become a contributor to the Prattle and he's accepted.

He's drawn my attention to many relevant articles, usually at a time when I'm not able to post myself. Hopefully his presence will prod me into posting a little more often than the once a month I seem to be managing right now. Please forgive him if he takes some time to get used to the posting interface—it can be a little intimidating at first.
